wonderful weekend wear

On a somewhat steamy Friday, what I wouldn't give for a dress like this one from J. Crew. Such an easy, pulled-together look that is fitting into my obsession with stripes this summer.

Have a splendid weekend.

Hello again, after a LONG hiatus

Hello dear readers! My sincere apologies for the regrettably long delay in posting...I don't have much of an excuse beyond the fact that May completely exploded with end-of-term assignments, projects, and papers; then I was in New Hampshire wishing my younger sister a very happy graduation; then my summer fieldwork started; and of course, the endless slog of wedding planning (apparently I don't have the gene that gets excited about wedding plans)... So there's not much more to say than I am sorry, and my thanks to you all for sticking it out.

I also want to shake things up a bit around here...make it more interactive, more reader-driven, more thoughtful. So I'd actually like to open this up to your ideas and suggestions...are there things about the blog that you really like? What would you like to see more of?

Have a spectacular Thursday, and please, stay in touch!

collections: AIGA design archives

My friend/classmate Christina and I are in the midst of a library-related project (more on that at a later date); in the early days we started an online inspiration board that has turned into about 800 links to amazing online image collections...this one I just had to pass along: the AIGA Design Archives. If you haven't seen this already, you are in for a hell of a treat.

These are covers from the Design Archives' paperbook collection. There are also Fifty Books of the Year collections dating back to 1925 (for book design), 50 Books/50 Covers, Packaging, Covers...just go and look at it.

stylish classics

Have you seen the Massimo Dutti April 2011 lookbook yet? Oh my goodness. So many clean lines and timeless silhouettes...

That camel and cream bag on the far right is gorgeous! And the polka dots + trenchcoat...

springtime crepes

Happy Saturday, everyone! After an oh-so-gloomy day yesterday (rain and snow showers!), the sun is shining and temperatures finally seem to be headed in the right direction. I am starting to sound like a broken record...spring is here! Spring isn't here. Spring is here...!

J. and I were lucky enough to receive and get to try out our new crepe set recently...my sister makes them so well but ours didn't come out half bad.

I can't wait to try out this recipe from Williams-Sonoma for raspberry crepes with ice cream; I love both sweet and savory crepe recipes but this one seems so perfect for the spring that finally seems to be arriving...and it's pretty much guaranteed to satisfy any sweet tooth.

Get the recipe; image from Williams-Sonoma.

hey zee!

Looking to insert a little color in your life? The colorful photography by Zee Longenecker has me dreaming of summertime carnivals and fairgrounds...

I keep forgetting that in May I will be heading out east to see my younger sister graduate from college (have to get through some serious papers and projects first)...I see a day trip to Portsmouth, NH in my future. Nothing quite like a walk down a seaside boardwalk; I can practically smell the funnel cakes and coconut oil...(let's forget about the too-hot sand and all the fake tans for a moment--focus on the good stuff!).
